World Book Week

For World Book Week we invited children and staff to come to nursery dressed as their favourite book character.
However, this year we expanded the event and spent the whole week celebrating books and stories.

Each day individual rooms took part in different activities focusing around stories, rhymes, poems and books. The idea was to promote reading and storytelling with all the children. Throughout the week we have had inspirational people read to the children. Ron and Vida Toone read The Hungry Caterpillar. Ron who is 93, wore his medals from WW2 and as well as reading the story spoke to the children about his medals.
George the Bear visited this week too! George read ‘Room on the broom’ to the children down in Forest School. Magic Marcus, Nurse Shirley and Princess Holly also came in to read to the children. We also had a visit from the Fire Engine and Firefighters, the children loved exploring inside the Fire Engine. As well as a Police Officer, who came in to read to the children.
