Forest School Level 1 Training

As a nursery we recently took part in a Forest School Level 1 training session, ran by Georgia our Training Coordinator and Rachael our Forest School Coordinator.

This course was greatly beneficial to the staff. We learnt the importance of Forest School and how to safely use equipment such as saws and a sheath knife. We took part in activities which we could recreate for children. Using the sheath knives we created spears to use to toast our marshmallows.

Using natural resources found within our garden such as stones, we used these to make leaf imprinting. We also made bird feeders to hang around the garden. We took part in extensive risk assessing activity, where we explore our garden and Forest School, searching for potential risks or hazardous plants.
